Gift your organ

Gift Your Organ Foundation (GYO) is a NGO setup in February 2011 with the primary objective of educating every citizen of our country about deceased organ donation. GYO has conducted over 60 awareness drives in Bangalore, Pune, Deharadun and Mumbai at various colleges, IT companies, Banks, Rotary club, Lions club, malls etc. However, our landmark project and our main way of creating public awarenesses are at the Regional Transport Offices through the 'Green Heart Driver's License' initiative. GYO worked with the Karnataka Government last year, in particular the Transport Department and Department of Health & Family Welfare and introduced the option of organ donor on driver's license card for the first time in India. Through this initiative, driver's license applicants can pledge their organs while applying for their driver's license card and receive a 'green heart' organ donor sticker on their driver's license card. The project is running successfully in Bangalore, wherein 46% of the driver's license applicants have pledged their organs and Karnataka noting the highest number of deceased organ donors last year. Based on the success seen in Karnataka, GYO along with the Maharashtra State Transport Department and the Public Health Department started this initiative in Mumbai and Pune as well. GYO is also working with the Central Government to make this a national initiative.

GYO stands committed to brings its vision of there being no deaths in India due to shortage of organ donors into reality and request the citizens of our country to join in and bring this into a reality.
